Larissa van den Herik is professor bij de afdeling Internationaal Publiekrecht en Hoofdredacteur van de Leiden Journal of International Law. Eerder werkte ze aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, waar ze een proefschrift verdedigde over The Contribution of the Rwanda Tribunal to the Development of International Law, dat is gepubliceerd bij Martinus Nijhoff in 2005. Voor dit proefschrift heeft zij de Bulthuis Van Oosternieland Priis gewonnen. Larissa heeft in 2007 een driejarige subsidie ontvangen van de Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO), om onderzoek te doen naar illegale handel tijdens gewapend conflict: de verantwoordelijkheid van bedrijven en zakenlieden. Dr. Van den Herik is lid van de Editorial Board van de Internationale Spectator en commentator van de Wet Internationale Misdrijven (Militair Straf- en Tuchtrecht, losbladige editie, Kluwer) en annotator van het Project International Law in Domestic Courts (OUP, Universiteit van Amsterdam). Ze is de auteur van verschillende artikelen en case notes over internationaal publiekrecht, internationaal strafrecht en het recht van vrede en veiligheid, en co-editor van verzamelbundels over internationaal strafrecht (Future Perspectives on International Criminal Justice, T.M.C. Asser Press – Cambridge University Press, 2009). Ook coördineert ze de Marie Curie Research Course en de Top Summer School on International Criminal Law (samen met Dr. Carsten Stahn).
