Moritz Jesse is sinds Oktober 2010 als universitair docent verbonden aan het Europa Instituut.
Jesse studeerde rechten aan de European Law School van de Universiteit Maastricht. Tijdens zijn studie werkte hij als research assistent van Prof. Lisa Waddington. Verder was Jesse lid van twee succesvolle moot court teams van de Universiteit Maastricht (Jessup International Law Moot Court in 2005 en European Law Moor Court Competition in 2006).
Van 2006 tot 2010 werkte hij aan zijn proefschrift als onderzoeker verbonden aan het Europees Universitair Instituut in Florence, Italië. Zijn Thesis draagt de titel “The Civic Citizens of Europe - Legal Realities for Immigrants in Europe and the Legal Potential for their Integration“, en analyseert het recht van de EU, België, Duitsland en van het Verenigd Koninkrijk met betrekking tot zijn invloed op de integratie van migranten binnen de EU en de drie landen.
